About us

A Cheshire workshop

We are a small joinery in Cheshire, making timber windows and doors to order for homes across the North West. Everything is cut, jointed, glazed and sprayed under one roof.

There is no production line here and no flat-pack kit arriving on a pallet. Each frame is set out from your measurements and machined on our own benches, which is why our windows sit properly in the opening and keep sitting properly twenty years later.

How it works

Two ways to get a price

Option one · no charge

Send us your measurements

If you already have the sizes, send them over with a photograph of the opening. We will come back with a drawing and a fixed price, make the units and get them to you. Straightforward, and the least expensive route.

Option two · optional extra

We come and measure

If you would rather not measure yourself, we can visit and survey the openings for you. This is a chargeable service quoted separately, and worth it on awkward or period openings where the sizes need to be right first time.

The people who make them

Every frame has someone’s name on it

Your windows are not assembled by a machine and signed off by nobody. One joiner sets out your frames, cuts the joints and sees them through to the spray booth — and that is the person who answers if you ring us about them later.

It is a slower way to work than buying in ready-made sections. It is also the reason we are happy to put a ten-year guarantee behind the joinery.

Stage one

Drawn & set out

Your measurements are worked up into a drawing of every unit, checked back with you, and set out before a single length of timber is cut.

Made & finished

Machined, jointed and glazed on our benches, then sprayed in our own booth so the finish is even and fully cured before it leaves.

Fitted & adjusted

If you would like us to install them, our own fitters remove the old frame, set the new one true, seal it and adjust every catch. Quoted separately — you are equally welcome to use your own builder.

More about installation

Why timber

A material that can be put right

Plastic frames are replaced. Timber frames are repaired, repainted and kept.

  • It suits the building. Slim sections and real depth give a shadow line moulded plastic profiles cannot reproduce, which matters most on older houses.
  • It insulates naturally. Wood is a poor conductor of heat, so a timber frame does more of the work before the glazing is even considered.
  • It can be maintained. A cill can be spliced, a joint re-wedged, a frame repainted. Damage is a repair rather than a replacement.
